Sean Dyche’s future at Everton remains under heavy scrutiny amid the Toffees’ frustrating Premier League start.
According to the Sun, Everton’s incoming owner, Dan Friedkin, will review the 53-year-old’s position, with his contract at Goodison Park running out next year.
Everton headed into November’s international break only two places and three points clear of the bottom three after sharing the spoils with West Ham United in a tepid 0-0 draw.
While the result itself wasn’t a complete disappointment, the Toffees’ wasteful finishing significantly contributed to their third consecutive winless league outing.
It was West Ham’s first top-flight clean sheet at the London Stadium since January 2024, perhaps best illustrating the depth of Everton’s scoring problems.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is no longer a shadow of a striker who was supposed to challenge Harry Kane for a starting berth at the England national team.
Fans watching football on TV could’ve seen the 27-year-old centre-forward waste chance after chance this season.
Despite netting twice in 11 appearances, Calvert-Lewin has already squandered seven clear-cut scoring opportunities.
He has been responsible for 20 percent of Everton’s 131 shots in the Premier League this term, with ten of his 26 attempts hitting the target.
Though the Englishman has been out of form, he remains Dyche’s first-choice option in the front third ahead of Beto.
But whether that’s a wise decision is open for debate.
The former Udinese ace has scored once despite playing approximately 800 minutes less than Calvert-Lewin.
It’s worth noting that his solitary strike rescued a point for the Toffees against Fulham, while both Calvert-Lewin’s goals came in defeats.
With Everton welcoming free-scoring Brentford after the international break, Dyche would be well-advised to revisit his options.
Only rock-bottom Southampton (7) and 18th-placed Crystal Palace (8) have tallied fewer Premier League goals than the Toffees’ ten.
Such an uneventful attack can hardly stand a chance of outscoring Thomas Frank’s frontline, boasting an impressive 22 goals from 11 games.
