Micah Richards blown away by Everton striker Beto after brilliant resurgence in form

David Moyes has completely changed the mood around Everton since taking over as manager in January.

The Toffees were mired in relegation when they dismissed Sean Dyche.

However, Moyes has significantly reduced relegation fears by leading Everton to four wins from five league matches.

Under the Scottish boss, the Merseyside outfit have picked up 13 points from a possible 18 to climb up to 13th in the Premier League table.

Scoring goals was a big issue for Everton, but that doesn’t look to be a problem any more with Beto in an impressive form.

The Guinea-Bissau international has bagged four goals in his previous three league outings, including Saturday’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.

Football pundit Micah Richards was left hugely impressed by Beto’s resurgence in form, calling him a new player.

Speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Richards said: “What about Beto? Where’s he come from? He’s a new player. Confidence.”

Beto has also been named in the Premier League team of the week by Troy Deeney, who says the striker has been totally transformed since Moyes’ arrival at the club.

The 27-year-old joined the Blues from Serie A side Udinese in the summer of 2023 for a fee around £25.8 million.

He failed to make an impact in his debut campaign, scoring three goals in 30 league appearances.

Beto struggled for regular minutes this season, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin ahead of him in the pecking order.

However, Calvert-Lewin sustained a hamstring injury, allowing him to become Moyes’ main man.

The former Udinese star took the opportunity with both hands as he has scored four goals in his last three league matches.

Fans will hope that Beto continues his brilliant form over the weeks as they aim to move further up the table.

Everton will return to action at the weekend when they welcome Manchester United to Goodison Park for a blockbuster fixture.

The Red Devils have been enduring a patchy form, but the quality in their ranks mean the Toffees will have to be at their best to claim maximum points against them.
